We're Hiring - Operations Manager

Synergy are pleased to offer an opportunity for this lead role within the dynamic Synergy operations team. The sphere of operations ultimately delivers lighting products to the commercial office fit-out sector, and key resources for this include UK and overseas suppliers, as well as a newly formed in-house manufacturing facility. Both standard and bespoke products are deployed to meet the requirements of our customers and sales team.

You will lead the quality and technical for the business

The ideal candidate needs to be self-driving,  and have a desire to provide an excellent customer experience every time.
An important part of the role is to have forward-looking vision to identify future opportunities and trends in the commercial lighting market that we as a company can take advantage of by steering our range to hit these objectives

Role and Responsibilities

• Further development of our on-site manufacturing facility based in Hoddesdon Hertfordshire
• Responsible to check that luminaire designs meet customer requirements and sign them off for manufacture. Both for in-house manufacture and out-sourced manufacture. Includes LED board and driver selection, managing engineering details and documentation
• Produce schedules for orders made at our Hoddesdon facility. Work on production scheduling with the factory manager.
• Provide technical input to the sales/marketing team, for example; set out base-build specifications for lighting products, judge on client technical questions, provide technical responses, trouble-shooting for customer service department
• Continually drive forward R+D/Product development projects to ensure that the marketing team stay at the cutting edge. Lay down product technical information to fuel the sales/marketing effort
• Manage the company`s technical file including CE accreditations, ldt files, specifications, CAD Drawings, BIM files
• Oversee stock control, purchasing, procurement and logistics

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Formal engineering qualification, preferably lighting industry

Experience Requirements

• An understanding of the government and industry regulations that apply to commercial lighting is essential
• Some experience in design/construction/photometric testing of light fittings is highly preferred
• Understanding of the interplay between optical, thermal, electrical, and mechanical variables within a luminaire, and the ability to manipulate these to ensure high performance and system reliability
• Some knowledge and experience of lighting industry purchasing is beneficial
• Some form of project management and/or sitework experience is an advantage

Required Skills

• The ability to collaborate and interact with both the internal team and customers, either face to face or via all other communication methods, in a friendly, trustworthy, professional manner is essential
• Accuracy and attention to detail. Understanding of Relux and/or CAD is an advantage
• The ability to specify and design commercial luminaires, especially LED boards/drivers
